To keep the deer population in the 2,000 acre game park in a healthy population balance, we have established a comprehensive quality deer management program. Our program includes many acres of food plots and adequate harvest of adult does while protecting the young bucks. This will help us to get a balanced buck to doe herd ratio and allow the bucks to develope into older trophy animals. It is our goal to have a healthy well balanced herd of trophy class whitetail deer. The hunting is performed in the most ethical fair chase way. Respect for the natural habitat and the wildlife are our highest priorities. All of the wildlife on Lucky Star Ranch benifit from this program. Our endangered Pere David's Deer thrive with these habitat improvements.

Lucky Star Ranch has a 100-acre private lake to fishermen year round. The trophy largemouth fishing is legendary among those few guests and friends that have been allowed to fish the lake in past years. The possibility of catching bass up to ten pounds is a reality at Lucky Star Lake. Fish in the four to six pound range are common place at Lucky Star due to the fertile nature of the fishery. The ranch has been managed for 22 years with a "No Pesticides - No Herbicides" philosophy. We believe this policy has resulted in increased growth rates of the trophy bass, deer and turkey on the estate.

The crew at Lucky Star Ranch undertook a comprehensive "habitat improvement" program in the Fall and Winter. Structure was built with bulldozers and backhoes increasing the available cover for trophy bass. Submergent structure and brush piles were added to the lake in early Spring. The structural improvements were based on the advice from Ray Scott contained in his "Great Small Waters" video series. Thanks Ray for the great tapes and information.

Fishing at Lucky Star Lake is "catch-and-release" with a slot system for largemouth bass. You can bring your own canoe and fish for a day. For bass fishermen in the Northeast, this is the rare opportunity to bass fish for trophies with an extended season May through October.
